How we source sheesham in Wayanad
Alvari Workshop · 5 min read
Every log we mill can be traced back to a licensed plot and a specific cutting permit.
Traceable timber, always
Wayanad sheesham is one of India's most counterfeited woods. Mills pass off soft acacia or poplar with walnut stain and call it "rosewood." We don't play that game.
Our sourcing process
- Licensed plots only — we buy from 12 registered Wayanad growers with active Forest Department permits.
- Cutting permit on file for every log before it enters our yard.
- Moisture meter check at intake — anything above 14% goes into the kiln for 30 days.
- Grain photograph recorded against the finished product ID so you can see the exact plank in your piece.
Why it matters
When you pay premium for solid wood, you deserve to know it's the wood you paid for. Our kiln log is available to any customer on request — just ask.
